If you are looking for a quick and easy tteokbokki dish without compromising flavor, look no further. This instant tteokbokki is jam-packed with flavors, has chewy rice cakes, and it only takes 3 minutes! You can dress it up and customize it by adding your favorite toppings, but it is delicious straight out of the cup. When it comes to instant foods, I am usually a skeptic, however, I was pleasantly surprised by how incredibly quick and delicious this came out. Plate it in cute dishware and top with kimchi, boiled eggs, scallion and it will be mistaken as homemade!
What is Tteokbokki?
Tteokbokki is a popular Korean food made from simmering small cylindrical-shaped rice cakes in a spicy flavorful sauce. Tteokbokki is usually topped with boiled eggs, fish cakes, scallions, and toasted sesame seeds.
The sauce for tteokbokki is usually made from first taking stock from anchovies and sea kelp. Then adding hot pepper paste, hot pepper flakes, and sugar. Add in the rest of the ingredients like rice cakes, fish balls, boiled eggs, scallions. With all the ingredients, this is a fairly simple dish to make, however, it does not compete with the convenience of the instant tteokbokki.
This Yopokki brand has several flavors ranging from Garlic Teriyaki, Pollack Roe Mayo, Kimchi, Black Soybean Sauce, etc. I have to say my favorites were the Rapokki which has both rice cakes and ramen noodles. The Black soybean sauce flavor was also on point and perfect for those who do not like any spicy or for smaller children.
